My First Azure Standard Order

I picked up my first Azure Standard order today! If you've never heard of Azure Standard they are an online coop that sells natural and organic foods. Since switching to whole organic foods I'm trying to save money where I can and buying in bulk is one way I can do that. I'm also trying to build up a pantry so that hopefully I won't need to buy so much every month. Anyone have any experience/tips for this?

Here's what I ordered:

12 Bags Organic Penne $26.80
12 Jars Organic Applesauce $32.45
5 lbs Organic Raisins $11.50
6 lbs Organic Apples $11.00
25 lbs Organic Oats $25.35

Total (including $9.10 for shipping) $116.20

$1.83 per lb for organic apples is AWESOME!!
I'm so excited about this and I can't wait to make next months order! :)

Have you ever ordered through Azure or another coop?
I'd love to hear about your experience.

  1. I wish I could order through them! There are no drop points currently in my area and I don't think I could start my own! I do order through my local coop and can order anything I want for a better price than I can buy it in the store. That has been really helpful (especially with wheat and oats purchases!)

  2. I've never ordered from Azure but I just made my first monthly purchase from Vitacost. I'm so excited for it to arrive. Got only items that were cheaper than what I could find locally.

  3. Azure does not have a drop off near us either. However, we are trying to eat through our pantry and freezer right now. It is amazing how little we've spent on groceries the past two months while doing this! Let me tell you, we are down to 1 can of green beans, a lot of diced tomatoes, 40 lbs of chicken quarters, and a few other things. I am trying not to go to the grocery store, so I've had to be creative. For our vegetable with dinner last night, I picked some lettuce from the garden and added a can of diced tomatoes and black olives. It was actually really good. We do really well stocking up the pantry, but we arent as good about clearing it out once or twice a year to make sure everything we've got is still good.

  4. Azure Standards has become my main shopping outlet for all of the local things that I can not get here or are just too expensive to by here. We spend on average $500/month for the six of us. We have a milk cow, poultry, and herd animals so we are able to stock our freezers well. I really would not be able to feed my family to well without Azure.

Found you through the blog hop!

  5. I paid more for my non-organic apples than you did for your organic. Unfortunately, I'm not the one who pays for the groceries so I have very little say. One day thought...one day.

  6. Yes, I did order from a CSA. Unfortunately the price I paid for some over or underripe produce was not kosher! Yes, it was organic and yes, it was delivered to my door, but sheesh! I couldn't eat half of what was delivered! One thing I got was three pears - all three fit into the palm of my tiny hand - but for the type of pear they were, only one should have fit into my hand. Even though I left them on the kitchen counter for more than 10 days, they never ripened and instead just got mushy! I may try this again with another CSA, but for now I will go to the Farmer's Market in town and pick out the produce myself!

  7. I am a huge Azure Standard fan and recommend them to everyone I know is interested in organic Non-GMO foods. I have been buying from them, probably 5 or 6 times a year for about a year and have loved everything I've gotten. I highly recommend Shelton's free range turkeys as part of your bulk purchases. You will be amazed at the difference between free range and those that you buy in the store! There is no comparison when it comes to freshness, taste and smell! Have fun!!

  9. Hi! I'm a first time reader, love your blog! We are "whole foodies" as well and Azure has made my life so much easier! I just wrote a post on my blog listing everything I buy from Azure if you'd like to check it out (the items I buy are far too many to list here :)
