Gardening Journal - June

Our garden has really taken off in the past few weeks. Just compare these pictures to the update I did only three weeks ago here. Everything has almost tripled or more in size!

We've been enjoying lots of mild spring weather up until this week which has been in the 90s almost everyday. I'm glad for the heat because my garden will do well with it, but I do miss being able to get outside without sweating so much!

We have lots of little purple butterflies around our hydrangeas:

Here are our corn and beans. The corn is about four feet tall and hasn't tasseled yet. Last year our corn tasseled at about 2 feet tall because of the extreme heat and we had lots of deformed ears. We are hoping for a bumper crop this year!

Here are our tomatoes, peppers, sweet potatoes and okra. We've got baby okra, but my camera wouldn't focus right so I don't have a picture.

Here is the biggest tomato we have so far! This is a store bought plant, but the plants that I started from seed are all starting to bloom so they aren't too far behind. We've got lots of aphids, but I'm hoping the ladybugs will take care of most of them! Did you know a single ladybug eats around 50 aphids everyday?

And here's our potatoes, onions and peas. I had to pull some of my onions up because they were bolting, but we were still able to eat them. Also, I've been eating lots of fresh peas. They are delicious straight out of the pod if you pick them while they are small.

Here's one of our green beans.
They should be ready in a couple weeks.

That's all for now, hopefully by my next update
I'll be enjoying some fresh tomatoes!

  1. Your garden is amazing ~ great job! Praising the Lord for growth & fruitfulness!

I'm SO thrilled because I can finally comment on your blog again (and the others who had this same template)!!! It turns out it was an issue with Chrome. I switched to using Firefox and am able to comment with no problem. Wish I would've changed browsers months ago!!

Anyway, our raised bed garden is doing pretty well ~ now I am trying to learn when to harvest the herbs, lettuce, etc. Fun!

Well, blessings on your summer! Will be back soon again (Lord willing, of course)~
