(My) Top 5 Modest Fashion Trends

It can be hard when trying to dress modestly to not look outdated, but I've noticed a few fashion trends lately that are actually pretty modest! I've been pinning away on my Feminine Dress board and I thought I'd share with you my favorite modest fashion trends and pins.

1. Maxi Skirts

Maxi's have been popular for a few seasons now which is great because they provide full coverage. I love them because they tend to have a boho vintage feel and I like the way they swish and move.

2. Midi Skirts

A midi skirt is normally mid-calf length. I think they're awesome because they are flowy and feminine like a maxi, but are shorter so they don't get "in the way" as much. They also tend to have a kinda 40s or 50s vibe which I love. I think a high waisted midi skirt with a belt and a plain tee is super cute!

3. Bow Tie or Ruffle Tops

I've been seeing a lot of bow tie or ruffle-y tops lately and they almost always seem to have a high modest neckline. They have a feminine classic look to them.

4. Wide Leg Pants

Wide leg pants tend to be more loose and less form fitting than regular pants, therefore more modest. They can be hard to pull off without looking sloppy though. I think you have to have a more form fitted top for it to work.

5. Classy (Kate Middleton-esque)

It's refreshing to have a style icon who mostly dresses feminine and modest.
She's brought class back and I love it!

What are some of your favorite modest trends?

Please let me know if you own these photos and would like me to do otherwise.

  1. I love maxi skirts! My only struggle is matching tops to skirts. Somehow it seems much easier to figure out what goes well with trousers.

Kate Middleton looks so demure and yet stylish! x

    1. I agree. I think it takes time to learn how to style skirts and build a wardrobe that works. I have way more experience styling pants so wearing skirts takes a little more thought and effort for me right now. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I love the belted midi skirts, they just don't like me! Mine have to hit right at the knee or my body shape looks really out of whack. I am all for more modest fashion, if only more of the youth took notice of it.

  11. I enjoy your posts on modest dress and all the great photos.
About three years ago I went total maxi skirts and dresses. Love wearing them and enjoy the interest from other women who want to wear them also. I'm stopped a lot in parking lots, stores and walking through town and asked, "where did you get that dress or skirt"?

Even men have come up to me and told me how they appreciate the way I dress. They like modest and some even say they'd like their daughters to dress the way I do. They want to know where they can buy a garment for them like mine.

I have to say thank you to them and then tell them I sew most of my own clothes because I can't find what I like in the stores. Most women voice agreement with me and wish they could sew. No more classes in schools any longer.

Thank you for sharing. I look forward to more posts and photos on modest dress,
    Mrs. J.

    1. I'm so glad you enjoy these posts!

I too have had some trouble finding skirts that I like because skirts are so hard to find in the first place! I am planning on making some skirts in the future and so glad that I have the sewing skills to do so! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
