If you missed my post about filling in the gaps in my wardrobe you can read about it here. As promised I'm going to show you what I found while thrifting this week. I tried to find quality pieces for fall that are both timeless and versatile.
Here's what I bought:
1. Brown Cardigan (comfy & fits me really well!)
2. Orange Corduroy Skirt
3. Pinstripe Button down
4. Black Knee Length Skirt
5. Grey Baby Doll Cardigan
I wasn't able to find a knit black open front cardigan like I wanted so I made one! I had some black knit material that I found at a thrift store awhile back and I actually used the brown cardigan above as the pattern.
It turned out great and it's really comfy. It's so nice to have a custom fitted garment. I have trouble with sleeves not being long enough, but I don't have to worry about that when I make my own clothes.
I've been thinking a lot about building a handmade wardrobe for myself and my family. I really want to improve my sewing skills and be able to make quality clothes. That's why I've decided to join in the November draft-a-long over at Sew Country Chick. We are going to be going through the book Design it Yourself Clothes: Pattern Making Simplified and drafting our own clothing patterns! I've had this book for awhile, but have never found the courage to do any of the projects. Anyway, I'd love for you all to join in with us! It's going to be an awesome learning experience.
Very cute! I am a huge thrift store junkie and new follower here! I hope you will come visit my blog Fresh Eggs Daily and share at my Farm Girl Blog Fest: http://fresh-eggs-daily.blogspot.com/2012/10/farm-girl-blog-fest-3.html
