Filling Our Home with Scripture

Before I was married, I used to say (mostly to myself) that I wanted to fill my home with scripture! It was (and still is) my desire to put God's word in literally every nook and cranny. I wanted people to be blessed and encouraged and know without a doubt what we believed when they visited.

Fast forward a few years and I haven't done the best job at this, but after reading an inspiring post by Katie from Blessed Femininity I'm encouraged once again to fill my home with the Word of God!!

I'm in the middle of some major decluttering and redecorating, but I wanted to show you a little glimpse of how God's Word is displayed in our home right now. I do intend to add more in the near future. :)

This painting is in my living room and I love it! I won it in a drawing at church.
It's a great reminder that God is always with me!

This canvas is from Hobby Lobby and was displayed at the guest book table at our wedding. It's now hanging above our bed. (Although probably won't stay there long due to some redecorating.) It's a great reminder of how God desires for us to love one another.

I got this sign at Hobby Lobby as well. It used to sit on the bookshelf in our living room, but I'm about to hang it in the hallway (I think). I love this verse! It reminds me to stay focused on what is pleasing to God!

Lastly, this vinyl scripture is above Walker's crib. I knew I wanted to have scripture prominent in the nursery and I love this verse as it reminds me what a blessing children are!!

I hope to add even more scripture soon. I love decorating with it because it serves as a constant reminder of God's love and promises for me and my family! God's Word is so very precious to me and I love using it as decoration to encourage and bless my family and anyone who visits.

Do you display scripture in your home?

  1. Missy ~ I love this!!! =) What beautiful displays of God's Word in your home! Each one is so unique, and I love the meaning and joy behind your explanations of each. [Hobby Lobby is wonderful, isn't it?]

Thanks also for the link and the kind words ~ I'm so glad and *humbled* that you were encouraged by my post ~ all glory to God. Our Creator is the Author of creativity, and I can't wait to see what other creative ideas He plants in our minds. =) It truly is so fun to fill His Word in our home, isn't it?!

What a beautiful way to wrap up my day. Thanks!

Blessings to you, your precious family, and your home~

  2. I love how you have displayed the scriptures in your home. The last one is my brother's favorite scripture and one year for Christmas I crossed stitched it for him, he said he didn't even remember telling me about it. Pays to listen I guess. I also have a large spot on the wall up high as you come into my house. For some time I wondered what to put there as it was so large and so blank. Then it came to me. I put the scripture "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15 I feel this sets a tone for the rest of the house. Thanks for the inspiration to do a bit more.

  3. Oh, I LOVE scripture EVERYWHERE. I've got it on my walls with wall art, written on our windows with window markers, and even hanging from curtain clips one verse at a time. May the Living Word fill your home with peace!

  6. I got vinyl lettering to go on the wall behind my sink. I wanted to get "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men," Colossians 3:23, to remind me to smile while I cook and clean. But my husband really wanted "But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD," from Joshua 24, so we went with that instead :)

  7. I am always looking for artwork with scripture for our house. In fact, just a few weeks ago I found a really cute handpainted wooden cross (at Hobby Lobby!). It's hanging in our girls' room. Love that store! I really wish I could make my own though.

  9. I would like to make it a goal to make Scripture pages on construction paper (mounted to heavier paper/cardboard) to hang in my home and give to friends using image printouts, bits of nature, fabric swatches and pieces of scrapbook paper.

  10. I love this idea and am trying to increase the amount of scripture in my home too. These are some great ideas to make that happen. Thanks.

I would love it if you would consider posting this on Titus 2 Tuesday at Cornerstone Confessions. Hope to see you there.
