Vision for Blogging

Encourage. Inspire. Balance
That's my vision for this blog.

I want to encourage women to embrace the role that God has given them whether that means being a homemaker, mother, wife, nurse, teacher, lawyer, missionary, etc. God has a specific purpose for us all and has given us different strengths and passions in order to fulfill that purpose. Thank goodness we're not all the same! I want this blog to be a place that lifts women up and encourages them to fulfill their God given roles!

I want to inspire women to be creative and try new things whether that means learning to sew, cook, garden, write, paint, etc. I want this to be a place of inspiration and creativity.

Also I want this to be a place of balance. I can honestly tell you that a few weeks ago my blogging time was WAY out of balance. I became a little obsessive and God had to pull me back and help me re focus. I want to be able to enjoy blogging and expressing myself in this way, but I need to keep it in balance with that rest of my life. Blogging can easily become an idol and I pray that I can be diligent in keeping my blogging time in check.

I hope to fulfill this vision to the best of my ability!

"Therefore encourage one another
and build one another up, just as you are doing."
-1 Thessalonians 5:11

  1. Missy - I'm excited to watch as you live out this vision. I have been learning moderation in my blogging too - for me, that has meant reducing my postings to about once a week until I get back into a good routine where I am not neglecting housework and fellowship in exchange for blogging. I would love to post more, but it's just not feasible in this season in my life. All this to say.... I am encouraged by your vision statement and support those convictions and will be happy to read your blog and be inspired whenever you are able to blog! I'm especially looking forward to reading your "learning about gardening" posts, and your home decorating ones. :)

  2. Hi Missy!
I am so excited blogger let me on to your page today...other posts have been unavailable the last few weeks saying that your blog couldn't be viewed without a personal invitation...which made me sad because I really enjoy your posts!
The first one I got to see was the "New Skirt" post that you linked up to on Raising Homemakers blog. I was so inspired and excited about the West Ladies DVD's that you shared about (which I had never heard about until then) that I used my birthday blessings money from my family to purchase the 11 DVD set in January. I am LOVING them! They're so inspirational and I'm learning a lot. So thanks so much for sharing this resource and for your vision to serve God in your role as wife. My husband and I are going on our fourth year of marriage and I have a little darling on the way (due April 1st)...I'm so excited about all the ways God is teaching me new things lately and how wonderful it will be to share that with our little girl as she grows. So thanks for your inspiration in this space. So very appreciated :)

I blog over at http://thefarmerswifeashten.blogspot.com/ though I'm not super consistent about my blogging...I try to keep it updated as often as time allows...please check it out. So great to meet a young kindred spirit through the World Wide Web! Blessings to you and your family :)

  4. Missy, what a God glorifying vision! Finding balance is something I'm sure every blogger struggles with, I know I'm still finding what that looks like for me :)!

  5. You are so right...something like blogging that affirms what we do...can so easily become an idol. I recently had a bit of a realization, too.
