I LOVED this commercial!! It made me cry and smile all at the same time. I really appreciate that our good, hard working farmers were given recognition last night. :)
While it is important to thank our small farmers that seem to be referenced in this ad, it is also very important to remember that most of the people doing farmwork in this country are farmworkers, who are often not protected by safety regulations or wage laws. I worked for a summer in rural North Carolina with farmworkers, and I can't begin to tell all the stories of pesticide poisoning, heat stroke, child labor (not a child of a farm family pitching in... 12 hours of constant work in 100+ weather for a 12 year old), unpaid wages, and much more.
