Garden Update

I haven't posted many garden updates this year, mainly because Walker keeps me so busy, but also because it doesn't really look too pretty. The weeds are out of control in this bed, actually everything is pretty much out of control here:
Our corn didn't do very well. We aren't cut out to grow corn, I don't think. It's almost time to dig the carrots and potatoes though, so this bed will soon be ready to replant for the fall! I've never planted a fall crop before, any tips? Our other bed looks a lot better:
We have several tomatoes that will be ready to pick tomorrow or the next day!! Yes!! We are so having BLTs this week! Also, we've been picking jalapenos and banana peppers for a while now and I picked our first crop of okra tonight:

What's going on in your garden??

  2. Girl, you garden looks great to me! Mine is sad, sad, sad. I have only gotten one zucchini and I'm pretty sure that is all I'm going to get.

    1. Thanks! The heat is really doing a number on gardens around here. Mine is still doing fairly well though so I'm thankful for that!

  3. This year, our garden is the best it's ever been. I think for a couple of reasons. Last year, it rained most of May and June, creating alot of standing water. This year, it has been perfect. We get the sunshine and the heat for 4-5 days and then some rain, even if it's just a little bit. Also, we built the garden in an area that has alot of sun. Our tomatoes are going to be producing ALOT this year (yay! Maybe I finally get to can tomatoes!!) I planted onions this year by seed and they are doing great. I also planted spaghetti squash and pie pumpkin by seeed this year for the first time, and I just noticed 2 sketti squash beginning to form. All in all, things are going well. And your "weed garden" looks just like ours did last year, so dont worry. You've got much better things (aka Walker) to do than weed a garden! :-)
