"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others,
it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."
-1 Corinthians 13:4-7
We're memorizing four verses this week! I guess we're trying to catch up from when Walker was born. I love these truths about love, even though they can be pretty convicting and tough to read sometimes. Have you ever read this passage by putting either "I" or your name in everywhere it says love?
"Missy is patient, Missy is kind. She does not envy,
she does not boast, she is not proud. She does not dishonor others,
she is not self-seeking, she is not easily angered, she keeps no record of wrongs.
She does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
She always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."
This is so hard to read because it's not true!! But by the grace of God I am working on it. One moment at a time. Another exercise you can do is to rate yourself from 1-10 on how true you think each statement is about yourself. Then you can see what areas you need to work on most. To make it even more challenging you could ask your spouse or other family member to rate you. That would be scary, huh?
What are you memorizing this week?
Oh wow, Missy, that is such a great and convicting idea to replace your name in that passage!!! Love that! I don't think I'll look at that passage the same again ~ and we have had those very verses framed in our bedroom for years now!
ReplyDeleteYes, hard to believe it's half-way through the year! Thanks for the encouragement along the way ~ it truly is a blessing!
Keep up the great work!
Blessings,
Katie
