I made this skirt from a fitted sheet I found at Goodwill for $2. I love making floor length skirts for myself because store bought "floor length" skirts are more like ankle skirts on me. And let me tell you people, ankle skirts just
aren't the same. To learn how to make an a-line skirt you can go
here. This is an easy skirt to do with only four seams, but for some reason (probably because I didn't follow any directions) it gave me lots of trouble. So my advice is to use the link above and actually measure your pattern pieces! P.S. I wanna know who has sheets this wild anyway? :)

Not a wild skirt.. I'd love it as a set of sheets! I guess we all have different tastes.
ReplyDeleteLol I was thinking the same thing about that print! I've never seen a sheet anything like that. Makes a fantastic skirt, though. I have the opposite problem with skirt lengths. I am only 5'1" and everything is always way too long and I have to cut off many inches and hem. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving :-)
ReplyDeletebeautiful Missy :). Love the sweet print :)
ReplyDeleteI've been making a ton of "maxi" skirts! I love them!
ReplyDeleteI plan on making a few more in the near future. They're so fun to wear!
ReplyDeleteI showed this to my husband & we are both excited for me to make one! I'd like to make one from a dark grey flannel sheet ~ so cozy for this chilly weather!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this! :)
Awesome! Flannel would be a good choice!! :)
ReplyDeleteMaxi skirts and boots= perfect fall outfit. That print is so cheerful. Great score of a $2 sheet

ReplyDeleteOH MY dahhllling....I am so glad I found you today!!! I am dying to make my own long skirt and can never find them long enough in the stores. Wow, what a great idea. And I would love to have sheets in that fabric. Great blog:)
ReplyDeleteOk..this is a pretty great idea, because you could actually get a skirt cut on the bias with a sheet size. I'm on the hunt now! LOVE the idea of a flannel one!
ReplyDeleteNever thought of sheets! I am planning to make bathrobes (for my daughter and I) from a duvet cover and a couch cover from another duvet cover.
And...thank you for your comment on Natural Hair Care post! This has been fun (blogging about it and involving interested people)
Great idea!!!

Red flannel would be cute! Thanks for pinning me! :)
ReplyDeleteMay I be so humble to suggest a very simple skirt that doesn't use a pattern? I believe they call them Dirndl skirts. I've made a tutorial for a quick elastic waistband @ http://joysjotsshots.blogspot.com/2012/04/easy-elastic-waist-bands-not-just.html . Hope you enJOY. (btw, you can use a sewing machine, not a serger for this idea.)
ReplyDeleteHi there! I found your blog through the GFC Blog Hop! Love it so much already, and can't wait to follow along! :)
