Baking Day

In the spirit of Ma Ingalls, I decided to have a baking day today to prepare myself for the rest of the week. I've started to rely a little too much on convenience foods lately and I'm just getting back into making my own homemade goodies on a weekly basis.
 Here's what I made:
Mixed berry muffins
Granola Bars (I need to tweak these they fall apart easily)
I also put some potatoes in the crock pot this morning so they would be ready by dinner time.

Yum! I forgot how much better homemade tastes!!

  1. I totally agree, homemade tastes so much better. I have been feeling so poorly lately that I have not felt like cooking or baking. Last week I had an energy burst and was so excited to bake some bread and make a few good meals!

  2. I made apple cider donuts today. First time back in the kitchen after being in the hospital for some treatments (which I could not finish). It is nice to make something homemade for your family. :)

  3. Yum! Looks great! I like the idea of getting a lot done on one day too. Someday I want to try making most of my meals for the week and freezing/refrigerating them until it's time to eat them. Just another thing on the to-do list! :)

  4. I have just begun making everything from scratch & we are loving it! My husband & I feel so much healthier. Today's food prep list includes: pumpkin puree, crockpot applesauce for canning & homemade pasta.

I would like to try making your granola bars soon!

    Blessings,
    Heather

  5. Kristen - I'm sorry your still feeling bad. Hopefully it will pass soon!

BakingHomesteader - Apple Cider Donuts sound yummy!

TrueFemininity - I'd like to try making some freezer meals too (esp. to prepare for when I have the baby), but I'm not sure how well the meals we normally eat would freeze.

Heather - The granola bars crumble really bad, but they taste delicious! I might try adding an egg or something next time I make them to see if it helps them stick together.

  6. I love the chewy granola bar recipe from "heavenly homemaker" no corn syrup and delicious. It is a family favorite (4 kids approved and hubby too!)
