I made a new apron using Simplicity 2319. It went pretty quickly and I didn't run into any problems. The instructions were clear and the finished apron looks like the pattern.
I really like that it has adjustable straps (the neck strap and ties are all one piece). However, I do not like that it ties above the gathered seam. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant, but i think it would look better and more fitted if the ties pulled at the seam.
Here's my finished apron:
I added a piece of trim fabric to the bottom so it's a little longer than the intended pattern.
What do you think? It kinda ended up being an old fashioned Amish style or something. :)

I am in awe of people that say "It went pretty quickly, and I didn't run into any problems". I like it longer too.
ReplyDeleteHa well "didn't run into any problems" for me means I didn't yell and my project didn't end up in the trash. :) I did sew the bib to the skirt once and had to get the seam ripper out, but it was easily fixed.
ReplyDeleteCute! I have come to have quite the affection towards aprons, and as a result collected several patterns. haha, I love your above comment explaining what "didn't run into any problems" means. I'm trying to teach myself to sew one project at a time. "Success" in the process is that I was able to put more stitches out than remove! I stumbled across your site through one of the blog hops, and just love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love aprons too! They're so unique and fun to make! Sewing can definitely be challenging and it is a great test of patience, but remember practice makes progress!! Thanks for the comment!
