Natural Cleaners

I've recently started using natural cleaning products and I couldn't be more happy with how they've been working. Here's what I've found to work best:

Baking Soda: Used for when you need extra scrubbing power such as cleaning the bathtub or stove top.
Vinegar + Water (1:1 ratio): This is a wonderful glass and all-purpose cleaner. The smell goes away once it dries, but I don't mind it. You can add essential oil if it bothers you.
Hydrogen Peroxide: This is great for killing germs and cleaning any hard surface. Its also good for disinfecting scrub brushes and toothbrushes
Cleaning Cloths: I'm in the process of eliminating paper towels. I've started using cloths for cleaning and I'm searching for dinner napkins that match my kitchen. I will still keep some around for extra germy messes though.

Do you use natural cleaners? Do you think they do a good job?
 I'd love to know!

  1. Vinegar/Water is a great disinfectant, I use it all the time on my daughters toys. I also use crunchy ingredients in my carpet shampooer and it works really great.

  2. Missy, thanks for linking up these natural cleaner tips. I'm also trying to use homemade cleaners in my home to save money and to stay away from harsh chemicals. Just this past week I've began using cleaning cloths because I've also realized how many paper towels I go through in a day!

I used to use the vinegar/water cleaner but, I can't stand the smell {I think it's only because I drink apple cider vinegar daily and it's so nasty}. I used soap/water/lemon because lemon is a natural disinfectant as well.

Thanks for linking up again this week at Unwasted Homemaking!

  3. My family and I use old towels (some large, some small, some cut into smaller pieces) for cleaning, then my mom does a bleach laundry load to get them clean.

  5. Try investing in some nylon scrubbers, you can buy some on etsy. They're crocheted I think, but they're super handy when it comes to scrubbing things stuck on pans, and even better when used with baking soda.
