I started my seeds today. I soaked half of them in water for about an hour to see if its beneficial for germination.
Then I planted 24 tomatoes, 8 peppers, and 10 onions in egg cartons and covered them. Lastly I labeled them with recycled plastic strips. You can barely see them in the picture, but they are on the back side of the egg cartons.

O Missy,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll do great! Gardening is definitely one of the most rewarding domestic AND money-saving chores of all! I've always wanted to start seeds inside before the warmth of Spring is here...but alas, our home's design/windows are not made well for providing good light for baby seedlings...the hubs and I have discussed the possibility of a small greenhouse in not so far future years (I'm clinging to that and meanwhile trying to be patient and planting when the warmth comes out of doors)...keep us updated on your little babies...it's SO MUCH FUN to watch them sprout!
~Ashten :)
We've planted old seed and new seed...some have sprouted and some haven't. Like you we've use egg cartons, egg shells, old seed starter trays found in the barn, and today, we cut old vitamin bottles in half and planted in them!
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping to get food too!
