I ordered the complete set of Homestead Blessings DVDs and I've really been enjoying them. They're inspiring me to try lots of new things like candle making, soap making, canning, etc. I watched the sewing video today where they made a tiered skirt. Well it inspired me to try my own skirt (floor length a-line). It was SO easy with only two pieces and four stitches. I used the measurements given on this website and started sewing! It only took me an hour or so to finish. I get frustrated easy when sewing so I try to keep it simple. Here it is:

ReplyDeletewhat pattern did you use? i am not good with a sewing machine but if its easy enough i could figure it out haha
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah - Click on the link above and she tells you how to measure and make a pattern if you want. I just figured out the measurements and marked them with pins on my fabric. Let me know if you need any help! It was pretty simple to do! Only two side seams, an elastic waisband and a hem.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skirt!
ReplyDeleteI have the Homestead Blessings DVDs - they are great and so inspiring. As I am in England I have to watch them on my laptop but it is worth it as there is nothing that compares over here.
So far I have watched the sewing one and the gardening one and am excited to watch the rest!
I struggle to find floor length skirts as I am quite short and they don't seem to be in fashion right now. Might have to try and make one!
How pretty!
ReplyDelete@ Jenny - I love the Homestead Blessings DVDS! They make me wanna run barefoot through the garden! ha Here in the states long skirts are pretty popular and I think they still will be for spring. This one was so easy to make! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I would love to make skirts that fit me better as well (I am also short) but I don't have a lot of time to sit and sew.. or a machine. But it does look easy enough.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty skirt.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your skirt!
